2 DAYS TO MERZOUGA DESERT FROM FEZ

Fez will be our starting point towards Merzouga. On the way you pass through Ifrane. Small mountainous city with European style and cold climate all year round; hence its name «Switzerland of Morocco.» Then, we will visit the city of Azrou located in the middle Atlas and whose population is of Amazigh origin. Its economy is based entirely on wood and carpets that reflect the Amazigh culture. Azrou is really not known other than the cedar forests that surround it and the monkeys that live there. Since it is a very attractive place for both national and international tourists. Later, we will have lunch in the town of Zaida. We will continue crossing the Atlas Mountains, the Ziz Valley and its gorges, Errachidia, Erfoud, and Merzouga. Once there, we will ride camels heading towards the dunes where we will spend a whole night between. It will be an unforgettable experience to spend the entire night in the Berber tent, enjoying a delicious dinner and traditional music.

In the morning we will get up early to appreciate the sunrise over the dunes of Merzouga before returning to the Hostel to have breakfast and shower. Next, we head towards Rissani, the first imperial city of Morocco. Then we passed through the Ziz Valley, a wonderful area that offers pleasant panoramic views of palm groves and gorges. We pass through Errachidia and Midlet until we reach the cedar forest where we will stop to visit the famous «Gouraud» cedar. We will cross the Middle Atlas until we reach our destination. Fez is the cultural and spiritual capital of the country and has great importance on a historical and intellectual level. It should be noted that it is divided into 3 parts: Fes el Bali (the old part), Fes Jdid (the new part built during the French protectate) and Mellah (the Jewish quarter). Fes has one of the most beautiful medinas as it stands out for its impressive doors and walls, palaces, monuments, etc.
