4 DAYS FROM FEZ TO THE SAHARA DESERT MARRAKECH

Fez will be our starting point towards Merzouga. On the way you pass through Ifrane. Small mountainous city with European style and cold climate all year round; hence its name «Switzerland of Morocco.» Then, we will visit the city of Azrou located in the middle Atlas and whose population is of Amazigh origin. Its economy is based entirely on wood and carpets that reflect the Amazigh culture.
Azrou is really not known other than the cedar forests that surround it and the monkeys that live there. Since it is a very attractive place for both national and international tourists.
Later, we will pass through the Atlas Mountains and the Ziz River where we will stop to take photos with impressive panoramic views over the gorges of the Ziz River. We will cross Errachidia and Erfoud, until we reach Merzouga where we will contemplate the spectacular sunset and the fascinating starry sky. Dinner and overnight in Merzouga.

Our desert adventure is in its second day. The planning includes a rich and delicious breakfast that we will have before starting the great tour of the dunes. Get ready to discover the 2 oases of Merzouga and learn up close the culture of the nomads and the local people who reside there. We will visit the small Berber village of Khamlia, known for Gnawa music. There, we will make a stop to enjoy a small show of this musical style with a glass of tea. Then we will continue the excursion via the Mifiss mines, the desert plates, the Tissardmine oasis. Returning to Merzouga, we will leave the 4×4 as we find the camels waiting for us to take us on a wonderful ride through the dunes of Merzouga, where we will spend the entire night.

On the third day of the trip we have to wake up as early as we can to appreciate the sunrise over the dunes of Merzouga. Then, we will ride the camels back to the Lodge to shower and have breakfast. Later, we will continue to Rissani, the first imperial city of Morocco that contains the largest market in all of Southern Morocco. Continuation to Tazzarine Alnif, the Todra Gorges, the Dades Valley, the Valley of Roses and the oases of Skoura. In the afternoon, arrival in Ouarzazat. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast we leave for Marrakech. We will pass by the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This kasbah has been the backdrop for many films, such as Obelix, Babel, Sahara, Kingdom of Heaven, Cleopatra and Gladiator. Then we will follow the route back to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas mountains and the port of Tizin N’Tichka at 2,260 m. of altitude that will offer us spectacular panoramic views.
In the afternoon we will arrive in Marrakech and the end of the route.
